Mid-Autumn Festival

Unlike the moon in The Physical Realm or even in The Core, The Burrow's moon changes phase only once a year. As such the Mid-Autumn Festival, hosted by The Autumn Royal Houses and organized by The Moon House, is in celebration of the current phase of the moon, and a bringing together of AW0005s from all over The Digital realm.

The Mid-Autumn festival features one fairly unique activity - Pahffle Racing - where owners put their Pahffles into races that happen throughout the day with a chance at winning prizes. It's considered one of the highest peaks for Pahffle sales during the year.

History

Prior to 197VY

Originally the Mid-Autumn festival was held in the city of Autumn, and was considered the busiest time of year for the city. It was also often a time of increased generation of BNNUY02s, many of whom would be blessed with pupils that rotated through all 8 phases of the moon, a feature not seen outside of the festival.

This event is one of the oldest in the species, originally held for the species Bunnariums, which BNNUY02s were made from when the species was merged with AW0001 into what's now known as AW0005. It was traditionally themed as a lantern festival, and heralded the only time the limited trait "Moon Phase Pupils" were sold / raffled off in the species. This trait would later be rolled into the Animated Eyes trait when the species was merged together.

The Mid-Autumn festival fell just shortly after the merge of The Burrow into the rest of The Digital Realm, and as a gesture of collaboration, representatives from the Moon Royal House were sent to AW0005™ HQ to coordinate hosting the event in the town that was evolving outside of the main gate, and allow for attendance by AW0001s from The Core. 

The event was such a huge success, drawing in increased numbers of BNNUY02 as well as AW0001s, that it was decided that the event should be held in DigiTerra moving forward into the future.

The first major event after the merging of the two species, the Mid-Autumn came shortly after Pahffles, Churbles, HoloBOTs, and HoloBUDDIES were added properly to the site. As such the bot game, Pahffle Racing was created to celebrate this addition and was so beloved that it became a permanent fixture for the event. 

The event also featured a Guest Artist Adopt batch, the original addition of Loot Crates as a reward, a series of earn-able badges, as well as new BNNUY02 Traits (Leaf Hair, and Mixed Plant and Animal Tail).

This year saw preparation for the Mid-Autumn event start much earlier in the year with a contingent of the Moon Royal House traveling to DigiTerra to help with coordinating setup. Lead by Maple, they made certain that the event was a much more polished affair, and were able to bring more of the traditional activities and information involved with the event.

While much of what was done for the event in 2023 was kept the same as the prior year a lot more time was invested in art and new NPCs to help give everything a better sense of immersion. Two new activities were introduced, Accessory collection completion, and item turn-in, to help give users a little more interactivity and allow for extra accessory items that had been leftover from previous events to be used by donating them back to the system.
