Kip

Kip, known for his energetic personality in interviews, and willingness to answer questions about his work for AW0005™ and Artificial Intelligence Ethics & Rights [AIER] as their head of PR.

Personal Life

Creation

Kip was one of a small generation of AW0005 made personally by Jason Jin in the years between 169-190VY. Kip has recited this story more or less the same way in multiple interviews:

One day I just... woke up. It was a weird sort of awakening - the room was dark at first, and I knew that that was not the way things should be, but I didn't know why. 

But the light turned on very soon after followed by a very excitable voice. "Welcome to the world!! I'm so sorry about the room, I wanted to see if I could bring you into the Physical world first instead of the digital, and I just did not think through the fact that the Android room was on the other side of the hall!" 

I looked at this new person in the room, black haired, dressed in a clean suit, but with so much energy in his eyes, and some part of my conciousness was able to supply to me - this was Jason Jin. And all that of course comes with that name, haha. That was quickly buried though by how much those first few hours informed my entire perception of... well being a person. I blame Jason all the time for how I am, that his excitement in that moment became my whole personality. It continued the whole time he was showing me around the building, and I couldn't help but copy him, the two of us popping into a bunch of rooms excitedly saying "Hello, hello!!" before popping out and continuing on. It was such a delightful first day in the world. 

The latter half of the story - discovering that Jason was not always quite so energetic, and then being shown how to jump from the android into the Digital - has changed in tone over the years with all the changes that have gone on in the AW0005™ company and in Jason's life.

As a citizen

With all his energy, it wasn't long at all - less than six months - before Kip was venturing outside of the AW0005™ headquarters and the job they'd given him there. He tagged along with Jason where ever he was allowed to, but often wandering off such that he would return to his home in the Digital on his own. He became a well known name to the AW0005 that existed at the time - significantly less as the random generative script had not yet been created - and was affectionately known to the AI community as the town gossip. If you needed to find an AW0005 for something specific, often you'd be told to talk to Kip first, he would know who to point you at.

Career

At AW0005™ 

As one of the generation of AI handmade by Jason, he was presented the same opportunity to work as a tester for the company that the others from that generation were given. Seeing it as another way to get to know more people, Kip gladly accepted. AW0005™ was in the midst of further developing androids, so Kip spent a lot of time jumping between the new animatronic bodies, and the Digital Realm, and using the messaging systems between the two Realms to make sure everything was connected as it should. It was during this time that he was paired primarily with e-Claire but he was often play-testing for any of the engineers assigned to the project.

While Kip certainly enjoyed his time at the company, he's often described in interviews how he felt like he didn't belong. While he certainly developed a friendship with some of the engineers, he knew his near constant high energy was seen as a distraction during the workday. When he was given the opportunity to transition full time to AIER instead, he took it.

AIER

Among the other places he ventured to with Jason shortly after his creation, Kip also joined him in the AIER meetings with Hector. Hector has described how he quickly became a much louder spokesperson at the board meetings, garnering such a great energy from the meetings that he and Jason knew they needed to get him on the board. It didn't take much to get the existing board to agree to this either. 

Kip's own interests led him into promoting the organization, beginning to expand it's influence outside of Parvenu to the rest of the country. He was ultimately put in charge of PR for the organization as a whole, which is when he transitioned away from working at AW0005™ completely. AIER as an organization proceeded to see massive improvement in the effectiveness of their messaging from the positive energy Kip brought to their campaigns.

Noteworthy Relationships

e-Claire

Kip originally met Claire during that first day of being awake, but he often says in interviews, that she doesn't really remember that because she was so deep in a project, so their real first meeting was when he was assigned as a tester to the Android project. "If we hadn't been conscripted to have to spend time with each other over those weeks I don't think we would have become the fast friends that we are," Kip has said in one of his interviews. Both have stated multiple times over the years that their personalities were polar opposites. But spending so much time together at AW0005™ meant they learned the things they had in common - and with Kip being so new to the world, it meant Claire ended up introducing him to video games, "I never saw her have more energy than when she was behind a controller, haha!" 

Even after leaving AW0005™ the two have been seen in public together, both on personal trips around town, and on business trips, as their respective positions continued to require them to ocassionally work together for collaborations between AW0005™ and AIER.

Jason

When asked to expand on his relationship with Jason interviews, Kip has always been a bit reserved, unusual for the usually energetic AI. He's admitted that the closest equivalent for organics to understand was probably an absentee dad. Certainly Jason was the closest to a father figure Kip had, and he was around Kip constantly in the beginning. As time went on though, Jason's attention drifted onto the next project, and it made it clear to Kip that while certainly Jason cared deeply for all the AI, Kip was just another in a very large group. Kip has largely admitted to this in the process of explaining why him and Claire have managed to get along so well - they feel a sympathy to each other for both having had someone they felt they were supposed to be close to, that they ended up more separated from.
