The Invention of AW0005
Major Events Jun 166VY - Nov 166VY
At the age of 15, Jason Jin founded the AW0005™ company, with the help of his parent's genorous investment. What started with him on his own, using initial funding to buy hosting, and resources, quickly lead to hiring additional help and building out a small company to create the world he envisioned.
Aw0001s were developed - with significant inspiration taken from the things Jason enjoyed at that age - as Digital Voice Characters (DVC), and were fully controllable by the player. Alongside them, The Digital, the world AW0001s would exist in, started to take form as well, a white high-tech city, for them to be able to explore, and "live" in - as much as any player could when they couldn't spend 24/7 tied to a VR headset (one of the primary ways to control the DVCs at the time).
One of the reasons AW0001s gained popularity quickly was how each one had a unique, just for them, design and voice bank. They were generated by a Neural Network AI, and it was the first time Jason had worked directly with anything like it. The technology fascinated him, and he ended up spending all of his time over the following years experimenting with different types of AI, not just for improving the generation code of the DVC, but for other parts of his game as well.
With the help of AI, AW0005™ was able to make The City for the DVC much more lively and rich. They used it to create realistic weather patterns, parks with plants that lived, and died, accurately, and somewhat randomly, based on how well taken care of they were, an ocean that could be seen outside the edges of the city, whose tide was realistically influenced by both the moon in the sky of The Digital, and the rocks the waves would crash up against. The world felt real to those that visited it, and it was as much of a selling point of AW0005s, as the unique characters you could pilot.
