Submission (#795) Approved

Day 1:
Today was an oddity. My first day of ‘existence’, if you can call it that. I can not even recall how long my ‘birth’ took, but I am sure it was not a quick affair. First I could hear; the sound of everything flooding my head. Then I could see; there were many others like me, lights and flashing colors abundant. Then I could feel; the cold, the dampness of the air. So many stimuli, it was overwhelming. One of the other beings came up to me. A player, she called herself. She seemed excited to see me, as if she already knew me. But how could that be if I had just been created?
She told me her name was Mira, and then asked me my name. I did not know, so she told me my name was Ren. She asked me how I felt, and I told her these new feelings were overwhelming. She agreed, and offered to take me home. I asked her if we lived together, and she laughed and responded, ‘Not yet.’
She showed me to our home, a small unit inside of a larger building. The noises and lights of the outside dimmed when she closed the door. The air here is warmer. The mess on the floor matched with the mess I saw on the way here. She told me this was our home, and to make myself comfortable. So many things are flowing through my head, I can not make sense of all of it. She tells me I should write things down, it will help organize my thoughts, make things easier to comprehend. That I should take time to focus on what is on my brain now and now what was on it before. What does that even mean? In trying to understand her words, I have started writing down things as best I can recall. I asked her if my words are satisfactory, and she said as long as they are my words, they will always be.
My eyes feel heavy now. Sleepiness, she calls it. She handed me a blanket, and told me to rest. I can continue writing another day. I take her advice, and close my eyes. Just before drifting off, I can hear a faint voice,
‘Happy birthday, and sweet dreams’
