Kynareth has often been told she doesn’t seem like the sporty type. Adorning herself in lovely sundresses and preferring her long hair free, she can’t blame them. It may be a touch stereotypical, but it isn’t exactly wrong.

Years ago Kyn was more keen on team sports for her daily exercise. For a brief time she would even consider herself an asset to those teams. Volleyball was her first love, and it was where she met Esme. When Kyn learned you could incorporate ice into sports, she was quick to experiment. There were seasons of hockey, curling, and skiing, but they didn’t stick.

Eventually, Kynareth retired from her volleyball team and became more involved in smaller community activities. Volunteer work became her new normal- from tending gardens to babysitting.

It was the Winter Welcome festival that introduced her to figure skating. She spent hours admiring the figures on the ice- the delicate turns and jumps. Kynareth was fully enamored at first sight. The next day she arrived with skates that were hastily bought half a size too large and confidence that matched.

The skating rinks and frozen ponds became Kynareth’s new home away from home. Since the festival ended, Kynareth has taken any opportunity to practice, determined to one day match those performers she saw the first time.
